What is an ITR?
Filing an Income Tax Return (ITR) is a critical responsibility for individuals and entities in India. It is a declaration of income earned during a financial year and helps the government assess your tax liabilities or refunds.

Who Should File ITR?
ITR filing is mandatory for the following categories of taxpayers in India.

Earning above the basic exemption limit (₹2,50,000 for individuals below 60 years); having income from more than one source (e.g., salary, house property, or capital gains); wanting to claim a refund of excess tax paid; or holding foreign assets or earning income outside India.

Companies, LLPs, and professionals irrespective of income levels, and entities required to file under presumptive taxation schemes.

Types of ITR Forms
